Very tiny yellow ants that are very common in apartment buildings around the world, the pharoah ant has nothing to do with Egypt, but the name is cool.

The pharaoh ant is typically brought into homes on food items and packaging, then because it is so small it escapes notice until it has gotten quite well established and probably spread into neighbouring areas. When people do finally notice it they usually reach for a can of bug spreader (commonly known as bug spray, aerosol sprays, bug bombs, etc.), spray happily away in the satisfaction that they are doing something about it, then a few weeks later the ants are “back”. Actually no, they never left, you just made them avoid the chemical for a while.
