If you need to kill fleas in the home you must do a few things – treat your pets (if you have them), vacuum, vacuum vacuum and then treat your home to kill fleas that have jumped off of your pets.

Fleas are parasites of dogs and cats and also raccoons and squirrels and skunks. We get fleas in the house from our pets going outside and picking up fleas that have jumped off the local wildlife, and sometimes we pick fleas up ourselves with no pets at all.
